When something needs to change
You may have experienced a significant loss, trauma, relationship breakdown or a major life transition that has left you feeling disconnected from yourself or uncertain about what comes next. Or perhaps your relationship is in crisis and you feel stuck in the same patterns of conflict, distance or hurt. I work with individuals and couples to understand what has happened, process difficult experiences and change patterns that keep them stuck — helping them reconnect with themselves, with each other and with life.
Therapy offers a place to understand not only what you are experiencing, but why it may be happening and what might help.
I work particularly with people experiencing trauma, relational and attachment difficulties, relationship problems, grief and significant life changes.
Trauma & EMDR Therapy
Trauma isn't always the result of one catastrophic event.
Sometimes its effects develop through experiences that happen repeatedly over time — particularly within relationships. You may notice this through anxiety, hypervigilance, shame, difficulty trusting, emotional overwhelm, shutting down or patterns in relationships that seem difficult to change.
I offer EMDR therapy for trauma and PTSD, alongside relational and attachment-based psychological therapy for people experiencing complex, developmental or relational trauma.
EMDR can be a powerful way of processing traumatic experiences, but I don't approach it simply as a technique. We first try to understand the wider picture — your history, relationships and ways of coping — and decide together what kind of therapeutic work is most appropriate.
Individual Psychotherapy
You don't need to have a diagnosis or know exactly what kind of therapy you need before contacting me.
You may simply know that something isn't working anymore.
I work with adults experiencing difficulties including trauma, anxiety, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, low self-worth, emotional disconnection and recurring patterns that have become difficult to change.
My approach is relational and psychologically informed, with particular attention to how earlier experiences and important relationships can continue to shape the way we experience ourselves and other people.
Couples Therapy
Relationships can become stuck in patterns that neither person intended.
The same argument keeps happening. One person pursues while the other withdraws. Conversations quickly become defensive, or important things stop being talked about altogether.
Sometimes couples come following a significant rupture — an affair, betrayal, separation, loss of trust or another experience that has changed the relationship.
I work with couples to understand what is happening between them, particularly at moments of hurt, conflict or disconnection.
The aim isn't simply to communicate better or decide who is right. It is to understand the patterns that have developed between you and whether something different can become possible.
A Relational Approach to Psychological Therapy
Understanding ourselves can be important. But understanding something intellectually doesn't always change how we feel.
You might know exactly why you react in a particular way and still find yourself doing it.
This is one reason my work pays particular attention to relationships, attachment and emotional experience, rather than focusing solely on symptoms.
The ways we protect ourselves often developed for good reasons. Therapy can help us understand where those patterns came from, how they affect your life now, and whether they are still necessary.
Depending on what brings you to therapy, I draw on relational and psychodynamic psychotherapy, attachment theory, trauma-informed approaches and EMDR.

Dr Monika Wieliczko
Chartered Clinical Psychologist
I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist with over a decade of experience working across NHS and private psychological services.
My clinical work has included complex mental health difficulties, trauma, developmental and relational trauma, grief and bereavement, and relationship difficulties.
Clinical Psychology training allows me to draw on different psychological models rather than assuming that one particular therapy is right for everybody.
I am particularly interested in working with people for whom previous ways of coping — or even previous therapy — haven't quite reached the underlying difficulty.
Psychedelic Integration Sessions
I also work with people who have had challenging experiences using psychedelic substances such as MDMA, LSD, psilocybin and would like to access professional help integrating and processing their experiences. This might involve both positive and negative experiences that could be related to previous traumatic events in your life.
